Beware of Fraudulent Hard Waste Collection Payment Requests

WM Waste is alerting residents to be aware of suspicious activity following a recent report in the Brimbank area.

A resident has reported being approached by individuals who knocked on their door requesting payment for a hard waste collection. The individuals were reportedly travelling in a black truck or van displaying "WM" on the side.

We would like to make it clear that these individuals are not affiliated with WM Waste in any way.

WM Waste will never ask for payment at your door or request cash from residents during a collection.

All paid hard waste collection services are paid at the time of booking, either:

• Online through our website at hardrubbishmelbourne.com.au, or
• Over the phone with our customer service team.

Our collection drivers do not accept cash or process payments during collections.

We encourage residents to remain vigilant. If you are approached by anyone requesting payment in person for a hard waste collection, we recommend that you:

• Do not hand over cash or payment.
• Do not provide personal or financial information.
• Report the incident to Victoria Police if you believe the behaviour is suspicious.
• Let WM Waste know so we can continue to monitor any reports from the community.

While this reported incident occurred in the Brimbank area, we encourage residents across all the councils we service to remain aware.
